Frugalicious Friday Favorites...and a winner!

...
Wow...we had 180 fabulous participants last week for Frugalicious Friday!  I saw thrifty n' chic finds, fabulous crafts and all around amazing Diy projects!  If you linked up...thank you for the linky love, as always YOU ROCK!

We've got a winner to announce today for our Shaklee giveaway, but first here are a few fabulous favorites that caught my eye!

Joy from Thrifty Parsonage Living shared her Pottery Barn inspired hand crafted pillow.  Y'all know I love a good PB knock off!  Joy snagged this free clip art nest from the web.  Click here for the tutorial on how Joy created this beautiful pillow!

Jennifer from Perfectly Imperfect linked up her $5 dollar lamp base she scored from a local thrifty store.  She spray painted this baby and added a new lamp shade.  Such a great lamp revamp...love this!

Alyssa from the Persnickety Peacock shared her bird's nest art she made with sheet music and wooden plaques.  Such creativity here and what a fun Easter decoration!

Anne Marie and Cara from Twice Lovely shared their vanity makeover.  This piece was dark and dated!  They gave it a creamy coat of paint in "satin ivory" and distressed the edges.  Now this piece is light and bright...perfectly shabby chic!

And finally Ashely from Little Miss Momma linked up her thrifty n' chic wall art she made with a simple canvas, paint and stencil.  This is a great idea, and would look great in any color to match any decor!

Okay, onto our giveaway!  If you'll remember the fabulous Bonnie Donahue from Shaklee offered a $30 certificate towards any fabulous Shaklee product from her website including free shipping, as well as a FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP worth $19.95 to one lucky winner!

Without further delay, using a random number generator, the winner is...

Congratulations Angie you are going to love your new Shaklee products!  Send me your contact information girl, so I can connect you with Bonnie.

Alrighty party people, Frugalicious Friday is ON again this week, and "yes" another fabulous giveaway is in the works!  I'll give you a hint...think CSN.  So come back Friday and link up.  As always...we want the scoop on how you $ave!  See you then, if not before!

Vintage Inspired Coasters!

I have a confession...I've never used Mod Podge before, crazy huh? So the other day I was looking at our monochromatic family room and thought this room could use a little color!  So I set out to make coasters using craft paper and Mod Podge.  Here's how it all went down.

Here are my supplies.  I chose craft papers in soft turquoise and green.  These tiles I found at the re-store for 25 cents each.

Using the Mod Podge, I started by adhering the paper to the top of the tile.

Then I put a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the paper allowing 15 minutes to dry before adding another layer.

Here they are drying.  Kid 2 made a cute butterfly coaster...

Each coaster has 3 thin layers of Mod Podge...this should protect the papers from any water damage.

Here they are finished, although I still need to add a cork backing to protect my table from scratches.

Cute and functional...two of my favorite things!

This is such a fun rainy day project, and took just under 2 hours to complete.  Now I've got fun, pretty coasters that also protect my table from water marks.

My first experience with Mod Podge?  Yup, Mod Podge rocks!!!

Frugalicious Friday Favorites...& a Winner!

I had so much fun surfing the links on Frugalicious Friday last week...I saw amazing crafts, talented Diyer's and all around fabulous finds!  I have to say there's not a week go by that I don't get inspired to create something new...love that!

We've got two winner's to announce today!  Remember Laurie from Laurie Gale Designs offered those ca-ute earrings for our giveaway.  But first, here are a few favorites from this fun n' fabulous day!

Fawn from Frugal Home Designs shared her revamped (free) chair she scored on Craigslist!  This chair was red, dirty and ugly.  She gave it a coat of paint, a new cushion...and this chair is fabulous. period.

Anne from The House that Jade Built linked up this armoire.  In it's former life it was dark, dark and dark!  Anne painted it grey, and really lightened this baby up.  I love this distressed paint finish!

Tracey from My House of Giggles shared her $3 thrift store mirror revamp.  This beauty was brass all the way.  Tracey painted her up in fresh white, and this mirror is all shabby chic now!

Robin from View from the Nest linked up this ca-ute apothecary jar she scored from Pier 1 Imports.  She added some easter egg soaps found on clearance, a little raffia...and this is the perfect Easter decoration!

Joan from Anything Goes Here took scraps of pine trim moulding, painted them in bright colors and added spools of thread.  Now she's got one of a kind jewelry holders perfect for necklaces and bracelets.  Now this is thinkin' outside the box...love that!

So that's a wrap!  If you linked up last Friday, THANK YOU...you totally rock!

Now onto our giveaway...we've got two winners to announce today!  Remember those adorable handcrafted earrings?  Without further delay, the winners are:

MirrorMate...A Mirror Transformation!

You know those builder grade, outdated bathroom mirrors that practically cover the entire wall?  Yup, we've got two of those babies in our house, and believe me when I say I'm not a fan.  So I was both excited and a little skeptical a couple of weeks ago when MirrorMate offered me one of their frames to try for myself.

MirrorMate is a Company that promises to outfit your bathroom mirror in minutes with a MirrorMate frame.  They custom cut the frames to fit your mirror measurements.  The four frame legs assemble and the finished frame tapes right onto the glass.  It almost sounds too good to be true doesn't it?

Okay with the Hubby's help...here's our bathroom mirror transformation!

Here's the before.  Yawn...b-o-r-i-n-g!

First things first we removed this lovely mirrored trim!  Yeah...not so lovely!

Next we scraped off the old black double sided tape and cleaned the mirror edges with rubbing alcohol.

Then we layed the frame out and applied the double sided tape provided, and glued the mitered edges together.
...

These connectors we placed into the slots provided.  So far this is too easy!  After this step we waited one hour per the directions to let the glue set.

Okay, we put the frame in front of the mirror and removed the tape backing.

Finally, we pressed the mirror into place and done...it's that easy folks!

Yup, this old mirror is transformed!

Here's a close-up of the mitered edges...looks perfect to me!

And one more look.  Yup, I'm lovin' this new look!

If you've got one of these outdated, builder grade mirrors...you must check out MirrorMate!  This project was super easy and economical too when you consider the cost of replacing the whole mirror.
