Guest Blogger...Stacy from Red Door Home!

I'm so excited to have our fabulous guest blogger here at Finding Fabulous today!  Stacy from Red Door Home is here...wahoo! ...

I visit RDH often and always find inspiration from her wonderful home decorating ideas, and Diy projects.  Did you know Red Door Home has been featured in seven different nationally known magazines including Better Homes and Gardens, Women’s Day Budget Decorating, 100 Decorating Ideas Under $100...need I say more?   Okay guys, get ready to see some fabulous designs, cuz Stacy from Red Door Home is in the house!

Hi Finding Fabulous readers! I am Stacy from Red Door Home – a lifestyle blog showcasing home d├ęcor, original DIY projects, budget decorating ideas, simple sewing and so much more. As you can imagine, I was thrilled when Jane asked me to guest post on her terrific blog to share some of my favorite budget decorating ideas. Thanks Jane!

I have been fortunate to have my house as well as several decorating projects published in magazines. Most of these articles focus on creating a beautiful home without spending a lot of money. In fact, the very first story about my house which appeared in Women’s Day Budget Decorating a  little over a year ago sums up my design philosophy perfectly – “It’s All in the Mix.” This title also happens to be my favorite budget decorating tip!

I love rooms which are composed of a wide variety of styles, sources and price points. I much prefer a room which looks like it has been put together over time to a space which looks like it came straight from a furniture showroom floor. By using furniture and accessories from an array of places, you can create a beautiful room without spending a lot of money.

My living room (shown above) is truly an example of a “mixed up” room. It is comprised of flea market accessories, a showroom sample chair, a repainted hand me down coffee table, a repurposed wooden cart, an inexpensive rug from Lowe’s as well as an old slip covered chair and a new sofa. Everything came from a different place yet somehow it all works together.

My daughter’s recently made over bedroom also follows this same design philosophy. It includes a painted dressing table (a free roadside find) paired with a vintage wire hand me down chair and mirror, a set of easy to make, inexpensive dog silhouettes and a simple molding project to add interest to an otherwise plain ceiling.
...

The cork board is a repainted Ballard Designs purchase which I dressed up with ribbon and silver push pins and the slip covered cubes and little shelf are from Target.

The side table –a marriage of a painted table and an old piece of marble – includes a formerly brass, but now glazed and painted lamp as well as a thrift store milk glass vase.

By shopping wisely, sewing my own curtains and pillows, making my own artwork and reusing many items I already had, I was also able to afford a few splurges in this room. By including a few higher priced items - the striped rug and the chandelier – I was able to give the room a more updated, modern feeling as well as make everything else in the space seem more impressive.
I hope you have found an inspirational idea or two for your home. (I have included links to all of the projects shown above in case you are interested in using them in your home.) Remember, creating a beautiful home is not about how much money you spend, but rather, about how you use what you have in fun and creative ways!

Thank you Stacy for stopping by today.  Your daughter's bedroom is gorgeous, and your moulding treatment that adds interest to an otherwise plain ceiling...GENIUS!  And the fact that you've been featured in several national decorating and design magazines...AMAZING!
Okay enough gushing...give Stacy a shout at Red Door Home ...your sure to be INSPIRED by her fabulous designs!
